My name is Kimberly, and I have PCOS also known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS is a condition where it can cause women to have multiple cysts on their ovaries, missed periods, facial hair, weight gain, infertility, amongst other things as well. PCOS affects me in numerous ways which includes: missed periods, facial hair, weight gain, and infertility. Since my weight was a huge issue I underwent Gastric Sleeve Surgery in October of 2023 and my husband had his surgery done in December of 2023. We were told that a year after surgery that my PCOS symptoms should ultimately go away. I am now over 18 months post surgery and my symptoms have not gone away. We sought help from my OB/GYN where she prescribed letrozole and my body didn’t respond to that at all. We are now working with a fertility clinic and are unsure of what will work and won’t work. We are starting with a low-tech approach and are starting with IUI (Intrauterine Insemination). If IUI doesn’t work, we will be looking into IVF but we know that IVF comes with a cost.
